Daily Slice O' Life

It's been one hell of a day. Some highlights -

+ Months of partisan battles finally came to end as Judge Sam Alito was sworn into the Supreme Court. What does this mean for the civil rights of John and Jane Q. Public?? I'm not totally sure but things don't look particularly good from up here in the cheap seats. We can only hope he doesn't add any more coal to the steam engine dragging us back into the Dark Ages. Would it be ironic if I said let's all pray this doesn't happen??

+ Coretta Scott King, widow of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., died Monday night in Baja California, Mexico. She was 78.

+ King George was at it again delivering his State of the Union address this evening. End our oil "addiction" ?? Did Rover come up with that one?? Wonder what all of his buddies in the oil business think of the "addiction" plan?? Funny how now its time for us to end our addiction to oil after Exxon ended up with RECORD profits this year somewhere in the range of $36 BILLION dollars. Yep - $36 billion! *shaking my head*

+ Oscar nominations were announced this morning bright and early. As expected, Brokeback Mountain led the way with 8 nominations. Now comes the fun part - trying to see all the Best Picture nominees in the next 5 weeks. That should be fun.
