Daily Slice O' Life (trouble in paradise edition)

+ BROWNIE BITES BACK: Looks like former FEMA Director Michael Brown isn't going to just roll over and play dead. He told a Senate panel Friday that he feels he's been made a scapegoat for the government's sluggish response to Hurricane Katrina.

If you are going to speak the truth - no better time to do it than when tesifying before a Senate panel. Nice effort Michael!! When you've been hung out to dry - make sure we all know who is truly responsible.

+ MIS-USE OF INTELLIGENCE?: Paul R. Pillar, the CIA's national intelligence officer for the Near East and South Asia from 2000 to 2005, indicated in an article published friday, that the Bush administration used unrepresentative data in making the case for war. The money quote:

"In the wake of the Iraq war, it has become clear that official intelligence analysis was not relied on in making even the most significant national security decisions, that intelligence was misused publicly to justify decisions already made."

WOW. It's always nice to hear someone actually say it out loud.

+ SCOOTER FOLLOWING ORDERS?: Well well....Looks like Scooter was just being a good little soldier. In a letter to Libby's lawyers, Special Prosecuter Patrick Fitzgerald indicated it was his understanding that Libby had testified he was "authorized to disclose information about the National Intelligence Estimate to the press by his superiors."

Hmmm - his superiors? He used to be the Vice President's Chief of Staff so according to my little flowchart over here that would be...Vice President Dick Cheney!

Time for everyone to take their dramamine to avoid the inevitable spin we are going to get on this one!
