I understand the idea behind ABC's brilliant move (insert sarcasm here) having Lost going off the air until February 7th, 2007...No repeats. Do I agree with it?? Hell no! I have to admit that it will be nice to have 16 straight weeks of Lost when it returns but 13 weeks - I mean who knows if I'll even have cable in 13 weeks.
It seems to me that these days the networks are all trying so hard to be different with their scheduling that they end up out-thinking themselves and end up causing a bigger mess than they had to begin with. I don't understand the idea of greenlighting a serialized show like Vanished (or Kidnapped or the CW Network classic Runaway) and then canceling it before it actually has the time to present the entire story. I mean - the network knew exactly what they were getting into when they decided on that course of programming and someone somewhere out there is going to be pissed because they liked the darn show. But then they all can't be Lost, 24 or Heroes. Also - the whole idea of canceling shows after they have been on one or two weeks??? What the heck is that all about??? If that was how you planned on dealing with it if it sucked then you never should have put the thing on the air in the first place. Simply nuts.
Of course this is just one humble person's opinion....We'll see how the whole LOST "vacation" experiment works out. I'm hoping for the best. As for it's replacement? ABC is trotting out Day Break. The show certainly looks interesting but isn't this just Groundhog Day with guns? It's stars Taye Diggs so my wife will make it required DVR viewing.
Put a show on the air with Michael Vartan, Johnny Depp, Matthew McConaughey or Taye Diggs in it and she's hooked.
Oh well - what can you do?
Uplifting TV News of the Week (UTVNOTW) - Take a looksie at this!
Nice to see a network with a little vision. Bravo NBC.
